Start-up Tuesday Cellar Co launches wine and cellar subscription service

A new wine and cellaring subscription company, Tuesday Cellar Co, offers subscribers access to a selection of professionally selected wines each month directly from the business’ cellars.

Customers can view their wine collection digitally via a “virtual cellar” and request home delivery through the platform. The “virtual cellar” also allows customers to digitally track the evolution of their collection in taste and value.

The launch arrives at a good time – subscription-based food and drink businesses are surging in popularity as consumers become increasingly time-poor.

Tuesday Cellar Co was designed for Australian amateur wine lovers by founder and CEO Andrew Rowe (pictured above, second from left), who also considers himself an amateur wine-lover.

Rowe said during the launch: “Australians love their wines, but often we don’t have the slightest idea of where to start when it comes to collecting and maturing wine. I have always had friends who have tried to collect wines but didn’t know which wines, how or where to store them, or just pick the wrong bottle to drink before they aged. We are launching Tuesday Cellar Co to make collecting wine attainable and rewarding!”

The aim is to enable customers to build their own cellar without needing expensive equipment, expert knowledge, or a sommelier degree. The business says it will also benefit the wineries in moving their surplus stock, bridging the gap between consumers and wineries in the process. Oversupply has been an ongoing issue for Australian wineries due to pandemic bottlenecks and Chinese anti-dumping tariffs.

John Clark, current head of wine at Brunch Agency and former head of buying for Vinomofo, said the Australian wine industry is ready for a change in selling model. “It’s great to see an innovative platform for people to make wine collecting a hobby and focus on local wines.”
