Spirits subscription service launches in Adelaide

Online subscription service ElixElite Cocktail Club will launch next month, with the aim of strengthening the connection between local spirits and consumers.

Founded by David Biviano and Carlo King, the club attempts to spread the word about all of the spirits produced in Australia, with the goal of getting more people to support local producers.

According to the club, recent downturns have driven countless craft breweries to close, and the spirits business isn’t far behind, perhaps facing an even worse situation. Less than 5 per cent of spirits consumed are domestically produced, and more than 600 distilleries compete for over 5 per cent of the market.

It also said that many customers are ignorant of the breadth and diversity of Australian distilleries, while imported brands continue to dominate the market.

“Our goal is to bring greater awareness to the incredible spirits being made right here in Australia,” says co-founder Carlo King.

“Education and people how to use local ingredients in new ways, we will make it easier for people to explore and support Australian distilleries.”

The ElixElite Cocktail Club also collaborates with award-winning producers, including Imperial Measures Distilling (IMD), Marionette Liquors, and Mad Monkey.

Last year, Itinerant Spirits opened a distillery in Ballarat, Western Victoria, set within the historic 160-year-old Ballarat Goods Shed.
