Sonos expands local leadership team
Wireless speaker brand Sonos has announced the appointment of Mark King in the newly-created role of head of sales for the Australia and New Zealand market.
King brings over 20 years’ experience in consumer tech and retail in Australia, having previously held management positions at Bose, Crest Electronics and Harvey Norman.
King’s appointment follows other recent additions to the company’s Australian leadership team, including the appointment of Jacqui Moore as marketing director ANZ and Phillipa Thomas as head of public relations ANZ.
The speaker brand has ramped up its presence in Australia significantly over the past 12 months, launching a major brand campaign, a new product called Playbase and most recently a local e-commerce site.
Sonos has said the expanding leadership team will play a critical role in achieving further growth in the Australian market, which has seen the introduction of voice-enabled products and rapid growth of music streaming.
“[The independent channel] will continue to be an area of focus for our reinvigorated Sonos sales team, which now includes Mark King and Mark Sehler, in his new role as market development lead,” a statement from Sonos said.
King will work with the channel partners to create a new sales-led culture across the Sonos Australian team, develop and drive a growth-orientated channel strategy and put in place effective investment programs for key channel partners.
The strategy will be developed in collaboration with the company’s retail partners, including the likes of JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman.
