Shopee teams with Meta to enhance shopping through Facebook Live, Reels

E-commerce platform Shopee has partnered with Meta to develop new tools that enable Facebook users to discover and purchase products more easily.

The tools include a simplified approach to affiliate marketing and the ability to enhance Facebook Live by adding Collaborative Ads.

According to Peggy Zhu, head of brand and growth marketing at Shopee, the partnership makes it easier for creators, brands, and sellers to connect their Facebook communities with Shopee’s product assortment and trusted platform.

As part of the collaboration, creators with affiliate accounts can visit Facebook Affiliate Partnerships and curate relevant products and tag affiliate listings directly in posts and Reels. Shoppers can click on these tags and complete their purchases directly on the affiliate partner’s site.

Creators can also benefit from incentives through the Shopee Affiliate Programme, including higher commissions, free product samples, subscriber vouchers, and product sponsorships.

“By empowering affiliates, we are enriching the way people shop across both platforms and creating more opportunities for success for sellers and brands,” Zhu said.

The partnership will also help brands and sellers maximise the impact of their Facebook Live by adding Collaborative Ads, a more seamless way to feature products from their Shopee product catalogue in their livestream.

Shoppers are able to click on the featured catalogue products while watching the livestream and are guided to complete their checkout on Shopee.

The integration is currently piloted in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines and will be launching in other markets in the near future.
