Quiksilver Europe founder joins SurfStitch
Quiksilver Europe founder and former chairman Harry Hodge has joined the board of online apparel and sporting goods retailer Surfstich.
Surfstich chairman Samuel Weiss said company founder Lex Pederson, Justin Stone, Stephen Goddard and Jane Huxley would all stand down from the board on December 31.
He said a smaller board with a majority of non-executive directors would aid the company’s rebuilding process.
“Lex and Justin will continue in their executive positions and stepping down from the board will free up more time to commit to those roles,” said Weiss.
Pederson and Goddard were appointed as directors prior to the surfwear retailer’s listing on the ASX in December 2014.
Hodge has over 30 years experience in apparel, board shorts and fashion, occupying chief executive, chairman and director roles throughout.
“Harry has exceptional experience in the retail sector with a proven ability to develop strategies and deliver growth in both retail and wholesale businesses,” said Weiss.
“As CEO and executive chairman of Quiksilver Europe, he played a pivotal role in growing the brand in Europe from a $1 million a year business in 1984 to a $500 million business in 2004.”
