Online order volumes have fallen by 10 per cent in NSW
Online order volumes have steadily dropped across many Australian states as consumers make fewer purchases online, says shipping software company Shippit.
The data is based on millions of online purchases from top retailers including Sephora, Cotton On, Big W, Kmart, Target, Myer, Chemist Warehouse, Temple & Webster and Coles.
NSW recorded a 10 per cent decline in online order volumes, followed by Queensland at 8 per cent, the ACT and Victoria at 7 per cent respectively and South Australia at 1 per cent.
By category, pet food and supplies reported the highest decline in order volume, dropping 81 per cent followed by computers and electronics at 48 per cent, fashion accessories at 36 per cent, and foods and beverages at 21 per cent.
Despite interest rate hikes and inflation, shoppers are still looking for a good discount during the end-of-financial year sales season, a Shippit spokesperson said.
Top products consumers splurged on this year include Zelda (997 per cent), vibrators (24 per cent), Louis Vuitton (20 per cent), lipstick (19 per cent), Bluey goods (13 per cent) and snow gear (12 per cent).
