Mirvac Retail launches online marketplace

Mirvac Retail has rolled out an online marketplace, allowing customers to order from multiple retailers within one of its shopping centres via one transaction.

Called Essential Express Home Delivery, the service has been launched at Moonee Ponds Central (MPC) in Victoria and Orion Springfield Central in Queensland. Orders placed before 12pm will be deliver between 3pm and 6pm the same day.

The initiative is to ensure customers’ safety while supporting local retailers during the Covid-19 recovery. According to the company, the Essential Express Home Delivery platform is a development of Mirvac’s pilot program Essentials Express launched in April.

“By accelerating these plans, we’re in a fortunate position to support our retailers while also delivering essentials to our customers safely,” said Kelly Miller, GM at Mirvac Retail. “The Essentials Express platform is essentially a start-up program for us to test the viability of a new hybrid retail model which we hope to eventually roll out across Australia via ‘Click and Collect’ and Home Delivery.”

Mirvac has partnered with global marketplace platform technology provider Omnyfy and on-demand delivery app Sherpa to extend its service.

“Sherpa has a fleet of more than 10,000 couriers Australia-wide and has the experience and the scale to support Mirvac, not only allowing customers to purchase from multiple retailers but have it delivered direct to their door,” said Issam Soubjaki, director of business development at Sherpa.
