Jimmy Brings drivers claim underpayments, mull Endeavour class action

Alcohol delivery company Jimmy Brings – owned by listed Endeavour Group and licensed to Milkrun – is facing a class action lawsuit as its drivers have complained about underpayments over multiple years.

Melbourne-based law firm Gordon Legal is investigating reports from 150 Jimmy Brings delivery van drivers, who claimed they were underpaid during a six-year period, according to the Australian Financial Review.

The drivers said they were paid only a single fee for picking up multiple orders of alcohol, while their contracts included a separate collection fee for each order. The alleged underpayments took place between 2019 and 2025.

Gordon Legal partner James Naughton told the AFR that the number of drivers who had come forward was “encouraging” for a class action, which would likely affect hundreds if not thousands of gig workers.

The lawsuit is still in the investigation phase, but there are “promising signs” that it will go ahead, Naughton added.

A spokesperson for Endeavour Group said the company was aware of the investigation but has not been served with any claim.

Jimmy Brings was founded in 2012 by entrepreneurs Nathan Besser and David Berger. The business was acquired by Endeavour in 2017.

Endeavour Group licensed the Jimmy Brings brand to Milkrun last year. The AFR believes drivers were employed by third-party platform DeliveryNow, set up by Endeavour to facilitate ultra-fast deliveries to all its brands.

Gordon Legal claims Endeavour Group sent termination letters to its fleet of drivers last month and locked them out of the DeliveryNow app they used to accept orders.
