Ex Grab exec launches Philippine grocery-delivery startup Supah

Philippine e-commerce startup Sarisuki has rolled out a grocery delivery app called Supah that guarantees rapid delivery within 15 minutes.

Time-poor consumers in metro Manila can choose from more than 2000 products across a range of categories including essentials, groceries and toiletries, that are shipped from one of the eight ‘dark stores’ that Sarisuki operates.

Staff riders will deliver orders on bicycles to combat rising fuel prices and traffic jams.

Brian Cu, Grab’s former Philippine boss and a co-founder of Sarisuki, said it will take a year to assess the profitability of the dark stores.

Last year, the Philippines’ internet economy grew 93 per cent to $17 billion, underpinned by a 132 per cent expansion in e-commerce.

Supah’s head Timothy Cu, who is not related to SariSuki’s CEO Brian Cu, said: “When we plot the delivery radius, we make sure that it’s an area that we can hit in under 15 minutes with the worst traffic conditions or worst weather conditions.”
