Ebay Australia launches fulfilment service for vendors

Ebay, Australia’s most-visited online marketplace, is launching a fulfilment service for vendors opening the way for 40,000 local sellers to contract out deliveries.

The program has been set up in partnership with the global logistics firm, Orange Connex, launching with two Sydney fulfilment centres. Other centres are planned for state capitals.

Ebay Australia’s director of shipping, Hayat Horma said the marketplace will offer vendors fast delivery options, competitive shipping rates, end-to-tracking, enhanced seller protection, and full Ebay integration.

“We understand that housing, managing stock and delivery in tight timeframes can be challenging for growing a business – especially as e-commerce continues to accelerate and consumers expect faster and more seamless experiences.”

She said Ebay’s research showed that nearly 73 per cent of Australian businesses believe it is important that marketplaces offer fulfilment services.

The launch in Australia follows the rollout in Germany and UK where significant improvements were recorded in the delivery experience.

Matthew Ling, MD of Ebay seller Azau, said that Ebay’s Fulfilment by Orange Connex would change the game for his business.

“We do most of our sales through Ebay, so seller protection and competitive shipping rates are two of the most important benefits for us. We’ve worked with other logistics companies and this is the first time we’ve been able to significantly improve our operations and efficiency.”
