Ebay appoints new CMO to focus on loyalty

Ebay Australia has appointed Julie Nestor as chief marketing officer, following Tim MacKinnon’s move from CMO to managing director last September.

MacKinnon said the appointment was a strategic move, which will see Nestor bring an increased focus on loyalty, personalisation and partnerships to the online marketplace, which sees 11.8 million Australian shoppers on the platform each month.

“Julie brings a wealth of experience in consumer marketing, loyalty, payments and in partnering with Australian retailers,” he said.

Nestor most recently served as vice president of consumer marketing at American Express, where she was responsible for major projects, including leading digital capability development, spearheading the company’s move to bring digital wallets to Australia, designing card loyalty programs and delivering brand and experience through customer communications and performance marketing.

She said she is looking forward to working closely with Ebay’s leadership team, noting the dynamic state of retail, and especially online retail, today.

“My role at American Express has given me an understanding of data, online and what merchants need to grow their sales,” Nestor said.

MacKinnon said retailers and consumers can expect to see Ebay Australia continue to grow and innovate under Nestor’s leadership.

“There’s never been a more exciting time in Australian retail for businesses and consumers alike,” he said.
