Docuseries spotlights Far North Queensland boutique millinery Sonlia Fashion

Boutique millinery and fashion house Sonlia Fashion is taking centre stage in the second episode of ‘You Can’t Do That in the Bush’, the online docuseries that turns a national spotlight on regional innovation and creativity.
Based in Mareeba, Far North Queensland, Sonlia is the brandchild of designer Liana Hastie and has built a loyal following for its detailed craftsmanship and aesthetic.
“This series flips the script on what we think rural Australia is capable of,” said the series creator and executive producer Laticia Braving.
“Liana isn’t just making fashion – she’s shaping culture from the heart of the Tablelands. Sonlia’s story is one of grit, grace and serious creative firepower.”
This episode, Rural Runway, is a timely showcase of how independent Australian labels like Sonlia are challenging industry norms and redefining what it means to be both stylish and rooted in place. It is scheduled to launch on June 12 on YouTube.
You Can’t Do That in the Bush is produced by Blue Clay Creatives in partnership with Holgro, profiling changemakers across remote and regional Australia.
