Deliveroo expands to Taiwan

Deliveroo is expanding its food-delivery service to Taipei, Taiwan, in the coming weeks, which will become the businesses 13th market worldwide.

Taiwan represents the fourth market in the Asia-Pacific region Deliveroo serves within, behind Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

“We’re focused on becoming the definitive food company in the region and globally, and our launch in Taiwan brings us that one step closer,” Delivery country manager for Australia Levi Aron said.

“We are constantly on the lookout for new opportunities, for new markets or new cities. We have wanted to move into Taiwan for a while as it has an exciting food market.”

Aron notes that he hopes every restaurant, including those in Australia, will be able to use Deliveroo’s Editions kitchens as a method of expansion into other markets, such as Taiwan.

The food-delivery business recently raised almost US$500 million through a Series F funding round, and was valued at over US$2 billion, enabling the businesses rapid expansion.

Since the funding round closed, the business has focused on innovation, allowing its Editions offering, as well as growing its technology team to enable the rapid expansion across new towns and cities.

Deliveroo currently serves across 500 towns and cities across the globe, as recently announced a significant change to it’s Australian offering in the addition of Marketplace+.

This new initiative allows businesses with their own delivery options to use the Deliveroo service as a storefront, yet continue to use their own drivers to deliver the food.
