Australia Post to build four regional facilities in SA
Australia Post is strengthening its delivery infrastructure across SA with four new regional facilities.
The new sites will be located in Mount Gambier, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, and Whyalla, representing a significant upgrade to regional logistics infrastructure.
According to the company, due to increased online shopping, the investment aims to expand processing capacity and improve delivery speeds across the state.
Australia Post executive GM, network operations, Rod Barnes, said that the investment is a direct response to the sustained growth of online shopping in regional communities.
“With 80 per cent of South Australian households now shopping online, parcel volumes in regional areas continue to grow,” he said. “These modern facilities are built to handle that growth, setting us up to support our customers into the future.”
To support emissions reduction targets, Australia Post will install rooftop solar panels at all new sites. These installations are intended to facilitate local energy generation and provide the infrastructure for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
“We’ve focused on designing sites that improve safety, increase capacity and streamline transport flow, creating more efficient workplaces for our teams so they can get on the road safely and deliver for our customers now and into the future,” said Plant.
