Aussie online retailers see stronger appetite from offshore
Australian e-commerce businesses are experiencing an 80.1 per cent surge in international sales, signifying a significant turnaround in consumer confidence heading to the peak holiday season.
Airwallex data shows that online spending in the third quarter soared 16.4 per cent year over year, a big improvement from the first quarter’s year-over-year decline of 36.7 per cent.
Among all states, WA businesses lead the nation with a 272.5 per cent increase in online spending, followed by Victoria with a growth of 20.9 per cent.
Sales by NSW businesses rose 12.1 per cent, while Queensland businesses suffered a 35.4 per cent decline.
“Going global has never been easier for ambitious Aussie businesses – no matter how new or small,” said Huw Griffiths, Airwallex head of enterprise ANZ.
“More Australian businesses are using this as an opportunity to drive and accelerate growth by enabling their products and services through cross-border channels.”
