Amazon’s Treasure Truck rolls into Seattle
Rumours of Amazon’s plans to open hundreds of physical books stores may have been quickly hosed down last week, however the e-commerce giant continues to flirt with offline channels to connect with consumers.
Amazon has launched the Treasure Truck in its hometown of Seattle. Essentially a shipping container on wheels, the truck is stocked with a limited quantity of just one product, heavily discounted, that users can only buy via the Amazon mobile app. Consumers can receive push notifications when the Treasure Truck is nearby and they buy and select a pick up location and time through the app.
Amazon reportedly sold out of its first Treasure Truck item, a GoPro Hero4 Black, shortly after the offer went live two days ago.
