Suppertime scoops up Messina (and delivers it to your door)

Australian restaurant delivery service, Suppertime, has added Gelato Messina to its roster, offering home delivery of the iconic ice cream brand.

Suppertime, which was acquired by Delivery Hero in October, is positioned as a premium restaurant delivery service, partnering exclusively with restaurants that don’t deliver to bring food lovers their favourite dishes at both their homes and places of work.

The new partnership means delivery will be available from an initial six Messina stores across Sydney and Melbourne including Bondi, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, The Star, Fitzroy, Richmond and soon Windsor.

Declan Lee, Gelato Messina co-owner, said they’ve always wanted to offer home delivery but hadn’t found the right way to go about it.

“Our goal is to make really good gelato and we do this by never compromising on quality. As you can imagine, with ice cream it’s a risky game for us to enter into the delivery space, so we need a good delivery partner who is already well established in this market,” Lee said.

“It’s been a long courting period with Suppertime! I think we’ve been engaged in delivery foreplay for about two to three years. It feels like we’re about to give birth to a big ice cream baby!”

Suppertime MD, Toon Gyssels, said both the partnership and expansion into the sweet market are exciting moves for the business.

Messina will be our first fully-fledged dessert restaurant partner and we’re beyond thrilled to welcome them into the Suppertime family.

Messina is a household name in its own right and with 40 delicious and slightly mad flavours to chose from, we know our customers will go absolutely nuts for their daily scoop of gelato or sorbet,” said Gyssels.
